Almost one in five UK couples have admitted that they are unsure whether they would survive financially for more than a month if one of them were to lose their job in the current economic climate, new research has revealed.
According to the study by callcreditcheck.com, 26 per cent of couples claimed they had no savings at all, while those aged over 55 were found to be the most secure when it came to money.
Meanwhile, 30 per cent of women in the UK stated that they were concerned that their partner could face redundancy over the next 12 months, while 55 per cent of females said they would not feel financially secure should this happen.
Owen Roberts, head of callcreditcheck.com, said: "Arguments over money can cause real problems in a relationship and 2009 is set to be a very difficult year for many couples, especially those faced with the threat of redundancy, along with rising bills and re-mortgage worries."
