Older generation "much more adventurous"

Published: 3 October 2008 in Unsecured Loans

The older generation has become much more adventurous when it comes to picking their holidays, one sector commentator has claimed.

In news that may be of interest to people on the hunt for unsecured loans to fund such a trip, Derek Moore, chairman for the Association of Independent Tour Operators, said that when such individuals were growing up they may have only enjoyed one vacation a year.

This may have been viewed as a treat and may have involved going on a domestic break or to somewhere like Ireland, France or Spain.

"[Now] the older generation are travelling more. Their kids have grown up and are much more self-sufficient these days so they are able to have a look at a bit more disposable income," Mr Moore noted.

Popular locations for such trips have been known to include South Africa, Australia and New Zealand, he concluded.

Those seeking unsecured loans may also be interested to hear that UK residents' expenditure abroad increased by four per cent to £9.4 billion in 2008, according to the Office for National Statistics' July report.
