Planning for a new life overseas?

Published: 2 January 2009 in Remortgage

Britons who hope to move abroad at some point over the course of 2009 have been advised by one sector commentator to take the time to plan for every aspect of the transition.

Simon Ripton, joint managing director of Alliance and Leicester International, said that one step should be choosing a bank account that best suits the individual's needs and provides them with great returns.

"Making sure you make the most of your finances while you are abroad and looking at getting the right account ... That means you can also take a little bit of Britain with you," he explained.

Mr Ripton added that another consideration should be the economic stability of the country a person hopes to move to, along with its job opportunities.

According to a poll conducted by Alliance and Leicester International Limited, 56 per cent of Britons relocate overseas in order to enjoy a better quality of life.

Meanwhile, 53 per cent claimed they were attracted by the higher standard of living on offer.
