Bringing microgeneration to the people

Published: 18 September 2008 in Unsecured Loans

The challenge for the development of microgeneration will be bringing it to ordinary Britons, one sector commentator has asserted.

People seeking unsecured loans to fund such developments in their own homes may be interested to hear that microgeneration is a process that allows individuals, communities or small businesses to generate their own power.

Robert Lee, founder and director of social enterprise UK8020, said the process could target climate change as it was "completely" zero carbon.

He explained that installing a wind turbine on a roof was one measure people could take as it depended solely upon on renewable sources.

"We have a challenge in a way to bring down the price of microgeneration, that's the whole purpose of it really, so that the ordinary person in the street can actually go off and buy one and really benefit from it," Mr Lee concluded.

In further news that may interest those looking for unsecured loans, according to a report this month by the National Housing Federation, the number of gas customers in debt is expected to increase from 2007 levels of 900,000 to over 1.1 million by the start of the next decade.
