In news that may be of interest to those seeking unsecured loans, a poll conducted in recent days by the news agency Adfero found that only 28 per cent of those surveyed felt a new pledge to guarantee £50,000 per person, per bank was satisfactory.
Gordon Brown recently announced that officials would increase the limit on savings guarantees from £35,000 to £50,000, but 72 per cent of respondents were still worried.
