Leader of the Conservatives David Cameron has admitted that he feels like shaking Gordon Brown over his handling of the economic crisis, it has been reported.
Speaking on BBC Radio 4's Today programme, he said it was time for the prime minister to admit that his government's tactics for dealing with the situation were not working.
Mr Cameron added that it was the credit crunch that needed to be addressed, which had lead to businesses experiencing problems when it came to securing bank loans.
"Stop wasting our money with cutting VAT, spending £12.5 billion of taxpayers' money that we're going to have to find and pay back one day on something that everyone now accepts has been a waste of time," he asserted.
Meanwhile, the Daily Mail reports that Mr Brown and chancellor of the Exchequer Alistair Darling have suggested that further taxpayers' money may be used to ease the credit crunch.
